Life is not fair – not even to the nicest of us. It gets hard when you don’t land a job of your choice, or do poorly in an exam, or have a fall-out with a loved one. It gets harder when you lose something that’s very important to you. But is it really the end? Chances are, despite all of this, you’re doing fine.
I’m sure you’ve heard stories of successful people whose lives didn’t start out easy. They had tough choices to make and eventually, they rose above their adversities. Get inspired by them.
You also need to remember that you’re doing better than many out there – there’s always someone, who would give anything to be in your shoes. So no matter how angry or upset you get, shake it off and move on.
If you still feel like your life is falling to bits (and it’s perfectly okay to feel that way), go through the list below. If you can check off these 4 points, you’re doing just fine:
1. You Have Learned From Your Experiences
So you made mistakes and had to bear the consequences too. But the good thing is you learned from it.
Some lessons in life are learned only through mistakes and now that you have experienced it, you won’t let it happen again.
Look back into your past and recall your failures. Don’t you think they all happened for a reason? A bigger reason?
2. You Haven’t Given Up
Yes you fell, but then you stood up. It’s a sign that you are not ready to give up yet. Bravo! Take a second chance. Give yourself a boost. You are too young to give up.
As Nishtha Kumar, 27, an art teacher tells us, “Life is too short to mourn over things. Nothing ends, the show goes on (and it must). Only the situation changes. So should you.”
Have faith and move on in life. Einstein once said, “It’s not that I am so smart, it’s that I stay with problems longer.”
So you see, all you need to do is just hang in there. Feeling bad for your failures? Give yourself a pat for trying at least.
3. You Make Your Own Choices
Don’t feel helpless – you are always your own boss and only you should decide what to do with your life. Choose to move on and not fall back, no matter the circumstance.
As Aristotle rightly quoted, “Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives. Choice, not chance, determines your destiny.”
4. You Are Ready to Forgive
It’s hard, but not impossible. If you find yourself forgiving something or someone that has done you wrong, it’s only going to benefit you. It helps you stay away from anger, bitterness and anxiety. As is said, forgiveness is the virtue of the brave.
You are fine and ready to kickstart again if you have the heart to accept and forgive others.
Many a times we feel like it’s over, as if nothing will get sorted again. But it does, and that’s the beauty of life.
