5 Tea Cafes To Try Out In Mumbai

Because coffee can be sooo overrated sometimes.

India has had a long love affair with tea; a cup after waking up, a cup in the evening, a cup when you visit someone’s house, and often the ultimate potential-bahu test… Long story short, we Indians really love our tea.

Fun Fact: India is the second largest producer and exporter of tea, after China, with its most famous exports being that of Assam Tea and Darjeeling Tea.

Moving on, let’s admit that the love for tea is probably one of the few links between a new-age hippie and your dadi’s generation.

Without much ado then, here are five tea cafes that you should try out in Mumbai:

The XVII Tea Room

Located at Pali Hill in Bandra west, The XVII is a cute little place where you can relax with a book and a cup of one of their exotic teas- and they have many to offer.

We recommend trying their Lychee Vanilla tea- it’s truly divine.

The Tea Place

Head over to The Tea Place in Bandra Talao if you’re in the mood for a rather regal experience.

Sumptuously decorated to look like an English tea house, The Tea Place will provide you with elegant china, tea timers, and a general air of fanciness.

Of course, it’s a little hard on the pocket, but their large selection of teas and the expertise with which they serve you is certainly worth it.

Tea Break

You’ll find Tea Break, a snug little tea and snack joint, tucked away in the interiors of Vile Parle East.

The place is cozy enough to catch up with college friends over a few cups of moderately priced tea, and your typical munchies like samosas, cheese toast, or the all time favourite, bun maska to go along with them.

Tea Villa

This is one place you need to go if you love tea, and if you don’t, you’ll love tea by the end of your visit.

Tea Villa in Vile Parle east has a unique concept that’ll charm anyone who walks through their doors.

From getting to choose your own exotic tea in test tube samplers to their adorable flowering tea infusions, tea here isn’t just a quick cup before rushing out the door.

Their rooftop section has comfortable seating and dim lights, which coupled with their delicious food, makes for a great date spot!

Chaayos

You’ll find chaayos outlets at Bandra Reclamation, Juhu, and Lower Parel.

Step in for a warm cup of their Indian teas, ranging from Masala Chai to Cutting Chai to Kulhad Chai.

You can also order tea with add ons like elaichi, tulsi, adrak, and kali mirch.

So grab a cuppa and get drinking!
